Savored Melodies: January 22nd
I should probably stick to a day that I’ll be posting these, but to be honest, they just come in that odd pocket of the week where I have the headspace & time to write. So Monday it was last week, Thursday it is this week. This week it is very neccessary for me to take stock of the good things, because the seasonal blues are seriously hitting me. If you’re in the northeast, you know that temps have taken a nosedive. It’s supposed to be in the negatives this weekend all the way through the next weekend, and I’m afraid many things will be cancelled + I won’t be leaving the house unless I must. Hopefully Joey and I can avoid cabin fever. Send us all of your ideas for hunkering down.
Exploring our Local Library
It’s five minutes down the road, has a massive kid’s section, regular programming for babies and toddlers, & friendly librarians. It’s pretty much the best place to go when we need an outing in between naps. We got three picture books (puff the magic dragon, curious george, & a birthday themed book since his first is around the bend!) and lots of interior decorating books. The ultimate cozy little haul. I had my hands full as I was leaving and the librarian even gave me a tote to take home.
2. Hot cocoa energy bites
Combine 1/4 cup flax seed meal, 1/4 cup almond flour, 4 tablespoons chia, 1/3 cup peanut butter, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1/4 cup maple syrup and 1/4 cup of milk. Roll into balls. It’s so quick and super nourishing for whole food snack. Top with flaky sea salt for bonus points.
3. Dump N bake shrimp lemon primavera pasta
I was almost 30 when I learned that you can put uncooked pasta in a baking dish with broth and your ingredients and get the quickest dinner. It’s so yummy and simple and keeps my hands free while it cooks.
4. A beautiful mess podcast
“Cozy, comfort listen” is pretty much exactly what I want out of a podcast. I love these ladies, because they have all the crafting, cooking, home decorating content, but they are also full fledged artists and novelists. As a musician, who brings her creativity into homemaking, I relate to them big time! Their podcast is SO bingeworthy. From the goal setting, the deep dives, the seasonal bucket lists, it’s all so good. Check it out.
5. 412 Coffee Box
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for the coffee lover in your life, this is it. I happened upon 412 Coffee Box at my parish craft fair, and I immediately bought one. For $20 I got 4 bags of specialty coffee from different participating Pittsburgh-based roasters. They have a variety of boxes, and I’m pretty sure you can create your own. My husband and I LOVED this blueberry flavored one from Nicholas (which has been around since the 1920’s, so how cool is that?!). Check out 412 Coffee Box here.
